Easter weekend was spent in Nice, France.
Quick tip before we get to the images..wear walking shoes. We easily walked over 10k each day. On the plus side, the city is beautiful and you do not feel the walking.
We had a lovely apartment not far from Place Massena down a lovely side street.
Place Massena is lovely by day, but really shows it's beauty by night. The fountains come to life and the colours and reflection really add to the atmosphere.
There are seven statues within Place Massena, towering over the square. Each one represents one of the seven continents and the communication between them. The colour changes smoothly to emulate conversation between them.
Nice itself is kinda split into two sides. The beach and the port. Both have their own unique attraction, although the beach is not the same as any on the West Coast of Ireland.. It is all smooth rocks which are topped up after each winter. Local councils tried to put sand on it but the locals did not want tradition broken, so the stones remain.
Along the long prom are hundreds of side streets. Each one should be explored. Lots and lots to see.
Some nice markets, which by day are actual markets and at night are taken over by the restaurants along the outside.
From the markets you should head up!! Amazing views of the city from the highest point.
We spent Sunday being lazy and just strolling around Nice, capturing some of the colour and identity of the city.
